About this document

• Certificate of Pension issued Jan. 8, 1849 to Sally Webster

• Repository: No. W18329, Webster, Asa/Sally, cover Page Continental NH/VT, National Archives, Washington, D.C.
• Transcribed by Caronne Secord, Mar.., 2000

• Comments:

Sallyıs efforts to obtain a widowıs pension finally paid off in 1849. In spite of the fact that she had applied for one as early as 1841, and again in 1844/45, the pension that she was granted was only retroactive to March 4, 1848. It appears that she may have received the full annual amount of $41.55 with this notification. Unfortunately, she did not have much time to enjoy the benefits of this pension, as she died less than two months after the date of this document.
