[in an unknown hand]

His Excellency Francis Gore Esquire Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Upper Canada

In Council

The Petition of Asa Webster of Augusta, District of Johnstown.

Humbly Sheweth That Joseph White Esquire on account of his Loyalty to the British Government, was induced to the necessity of flying to Canada in the Year ‘80. and left his family in a very awkward situation, that your Petitioner by way of rendering them every manner of assistance, joined them the following winter where he remained untill the cessation of hostilities when he moved into Canada with them and received all the donations & indulgences bestowed upon the other Loyalists, that your petitioner was one of the first adventurers to the Oswegatchie settlement when he received his Lands as a Loyalist & has made it his place of residence ever since. That your Petitioner of late has received intelligence his name is not inserted upon the list of Loyalists, he does therefore most fervently implore Your Excellency out of your great goodness and condescension, would be so indulgent as to give such directions that his name may be annexed to the U. E. List, so that the may enjoy equal privileges with other Loyalists. And In Duty Bound will Ever Pray.
